Short-term mission has changed everything.
It has been because of Jesus that I have decided to go in His name across oceans to share this deep hope that I have found in a relationship with Him. In 2015, I attended my first International Mission Ministries (IMM) short-term mission trip to Nepal and I truly believe it solidified my faith and provided an opportunity for me to discover zeal in Christ.
I also attended the trip in 2016 as a team leader and was amazed at the way the trip grew me again in different ways. Short-term missions have grown, changed, challenged and inspired me!
To connect with another human being on the other side of the planet, to hear their story and share in their struggles and joys, to encourage them in their faith or into a faith, to seek God’s compassion on His people and experience His love for His children, it completely changes you – it is pure and undefiled religion (James 1:27).
I now feel that I have more of a heart for the lost and a mind that is ‘global’. I guess it’s not exactly the trip that changes you, but Christ within the trip helping us to work as a body (within the team, especially).
I have great faith in the trips that IMM run because they are organised and led by God-filled, committed and compassionate Christ followers. Short-term mission takes you out of your ‘norm’ and drops you right into the middle of God’s work- how could that not change you?
I thank God for short-term missions.
